Submitting your entry
Where do I submit my entry?
You will need to log in to this website using the username and password you created when registering for the Make Your Mark Challenge.
What if I have forgotten my password?
If you have forgotten your password please visit http://www.gew.org.uk/user/password and enter your email address or username to request a new password.
What do I need to submit?
Each school or college is entitled to upload ONE entry per age category. Your entry should consist of 3 documents, each document must not exceed 1MB. Please ensure you have the following information ready:
1) The name of your winning team’s idea
2) First name and surname of each team member
3) Telephone number of staff contact (if not already submitted)
4) Three documents for upload (Ideas Sheet, Money Matters Sheet, Competitors Outline)
You do not need to submit your students’ presentation.
Can I submit my entry via email?
No, all entries must be received via the Challenge website but if you are experiencing problems uploading on the day then please call 0845 094 0226.
What file types will be accepted?
The following file extensions will be accepted: doc, jpeg, jpg, pdf, ppt, pub, xls. If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 please save your documents in compatibility mode.
How should the documents be named?
Please use your school or college name in the document title (e.g. Ideas Sheet - School or College.doc)
How do I save my documents in compatibility mode?
If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 to create Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents you will need to save your files in compatibility mode. This is easily done as follows:
1) Open Microsoft Word 2007
2) Click the “Office Button” (top left of your screen)
3) Then on the bottom of the list click “Word Options”
4) The “Word Options” window will open. Now click on “Save” in the left panel
5) Change the top option (in the right panel) “save files in this format” from “Word Document (.docx)” to “Word 97-2003 Document (.doc)”
6) Click “OK” and you’re all done!
How do I compress the pictures in a document to reduce the file size?
In Word
Right click on an image or photograph and select ‘Format Picture’.Choose the ‘Picture’ tab at the top of the box.Click ‘Compress’ in the bottom left hand corner. Select ‘Compress all pictures in document’.Change the resolution to ‘Web/Screen’.Click ‘OK’.
This will significantly reduce the size of your document.
Does it matter if my schools entry is a bit late?
Yes, all entries must be submitted via the website by 2pm on Wednesday 18 November. Entries received after this time may not be considered.
Can I change my team or entry once it’s been put through to the final?
No, the entry/idea must stay the same throughout the competition as must the team, if there are any student absences on the day of the finals please notify the regional organisers.
Can I use sound and video in my entry?
No, all entries must be still files, moving images will not be accepted

How many teams go through to the Regional Final?
We will select 10 teams in each age category to compete in their regional final. Please see our Regional Final page for details of dates and venues. The winning team in each age category will then be invited to the UK Final in London on 10 December.
