What are the dates of Global Entrepreneurship Week?

The dates for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2010 are 15 - 21 November.

What is Global Entrepreneurship Week?

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a world-wide movement of entrepreneurial people. Millions of people across the globe are encouraged to unleash their entrepreneurial talents and turn their ideas into reality.

It’s been running annually in the UK since 2004 as Enterprise Week. In that time it has involved over 25,000 events all over the UK attended by more than 2 million people! In 2010 Enterprise Week was re-named Global Entrepreneurship Week. Read more.

Who’s behind Global Entrepreneurship Week?

News of the success of Enterprise Week in the UK spread the globe, and lots of other countries got excited by the potential of running similar Weeks in their own countries. So in 2008, Enterprise UK and the Kauffman Foundation (the world’s largest entrepreneurship foundation based in the US) founded the very first Global Entrepreneurship Week!

Our two organisations coordinate things on a global scale, eg. engaging other countries, managing the website, working on global signature activities etc. But the success of the individual Weeks in each country is down to the Host organisations. They’re doing some amazing stuff. Find out more.

I’d like to take part but I’m stuck for ideas. Can you help?

We have an ideas bank where you can search for lots of activity suggestions and case studies to help inspire you to run a fantastic Global Entrepreneurship Week. However, if you would like to speak to someone at Make Your Mark get in touch.

I work in education. How does enterprise fit?

Enterprise education is a key element of the non-statutory work-related learning framework, aiming to encourage young people to be more enterprising. Visit the QCA website for more information. Learn how to develop a curriculum that supports enterprise.

You can also find some guidance on enterprise education on Teachernet.

Can you let me know of any events taking place in my local area?

You can find out what events took place during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009 by searching the events calendar.

The 2010 calendar will be up in August 2010, where you can search events and post your own.

I want to speak at an event during Global Entrepreneurship Week UK. How do I find out what’s going on?

We would encourage you to think about approaching a school, college, university or business and offering your services.

Can you help publicise our events?

Enterprise UK encourages every organisation to issue a press release or photocall to their local media.

We also encourage you to register all your Global Entrepreneurship Week UK activities on the events calendar which is searched by young people, organisations, policy makers and the media.

The 2010 events calendar will go live in August.

Can Make Your Mark help me find an entrepreneur for my Global Entrepreneurship Week UK event?

Yes! We have a role models request form where you can ask for one of the fabulous Make Your Mark Ambassadors to speak. Look out for this nearer the week.

Can Make Your Mark help with funding events?

Make Your Mark is a charity and as such doesn’t have the resources to fund over 6,000 events (about that many are organised by over 2,000 organisations duing the week)! However, we encourage you to approach local businesses to help support your events or run events in partnership and pool resources.

I’m running an event. Can Make Your Mark help with materials?

We will provide a limited amount of free branded pens, t-shirts and button badges that you can order. Once you’ve registered your events and activities, you’ll get the secret link to the merchandise website on your homepage.

If you want to produce your own materials, feel free to use our logos to brand them. Download the logo.
