Event: Africa Now's £1 Challenge!

This challenge aims to teach students how hard it is to start with a small amount of money and create a business.The aim is to show students how different life is in Africa and also to raise some money for Africa Now .Each student starts with just £1 and their imagination! The £1 challenge can be done in your school or college and at what ever time you choose.It can be adapted for KS2,KS3,KS4 and Post-16, as well as being linked to units in citizenship and geography and being a smaller alternative to Young Enterprise.

The ifs Student Investor Challenge gives teams of 4 students the opportunity to experience the dynamic world of share trading.

Teams will have £100,000 of virtual money to invest on the stock market, and students will need to keep their portfolios healthy in order to gain a place in the regional finals. By reading and forecasting market information provided online, students can identify shares and make judgements of when to buy and sell in order to make a profit.

The best entries in the under 16 Section of the Badgers Sett Enterprise Challenge that was launched in July to face the Badgers to see who will win £750 to invest in their enterprising idea. The winners get access to a business mentor to help them develop their enterprising idea and the chance to double their winnings in GEW.
