North West
North West Meet-up
A very lively meet-up was held at Manchester City Football Club bringing over 130 enterprising people together to find out more about Global Entrepreneurship Week and what they could do to amplify the enterprise message in the Northwest.
Hellos and welcome
The event was introduced by Yvonne Sampson from the NWDA and Sarah Bevan Fischer explained what GEW is all about and why we need it.
The workshops
Jane Lord from the NW UKTI team informed us on the Global angle with an interesting presentation about the work that they do to support businesses to develop international trade opportunities.
Jane’s presentation was followed by Enterprise Ambassador Chris Arnold, CEO of Camp Leaders who gave us a touching and amusing account of his enterprise journey and how and why he was inspired to set up his company which now turns over £10m.
Speednetworking then ensued and created such a volume of excited exchanges that the whistle had to be blown repeatedly to call everyone’s attention to lunch being served!
The afternoon featured workshops on People, Places, Education and Business with delegates having the opportunity to find out more from two of the sessions.
Thank yous!
Thanks to Joy Addinsell, Heather Radley and Jane Lord for leading the workshops and thanks to UKTI in the NW, Business Link Northwest and the NWDA for supporting the event. Everyone went home having made masses of contacts and many delegates pledged to hold events during GEW. Hooray!
