Enterprise competition / simulation of a business start-up

KS3 -Year 7 Enterprise Challenge, run by the Lionheart .

The Business Studies team was awarded with a £1,000 prize for Creativity and Innovation at the National Muslim Teachers Awards.

This money was invested in a pioneering enterprise project; where Business and Enterprise students were divided into teams and given a £40 start-up capital. As a part of their course, they were required to create a real business plan based on a unique idea, which fills a gap in the market.

Through our partnership with Town & Country Markets we secured 5 stalls in the Luton Town Market, where students sold were able to sell their products to a wider market.

Series of enterprise challenges in four local schools culminating in a finals day at Staffordshire University Business School

ProfitAbility will use one of its business simulations to put fifty students through their paces. The students compete in two groups - one is studying for their BTEC in business, and the other are wannabe accountants. Using ProfitAbility’s hands-on competitive and interactive board games each team will compete for market dominance and show how they can run a profitable business while maintaining all important cash flow.

Startup Weekend Education London (SWEL) is a non-profit, community-building event that brings together educators, developers, designers and business people with the shared ambition: to use technology to enhance education.

Taking place at the Free Word Centre in Farringdon on Friday 25th (6pm-10pm), Saturday (9am-10pm) & Sunday (9am-9pm).

We are working with 16 pupils from a secondary school (years 7 & 8) and are delivering an enterprise project. the pupils will be selling smoothies as their selling event. prior to this they will look at market research, looking at prices and working to a budget. The aim of the project is to get children thinking about enterprise and learn about the different qualities that a entrepreneur has.

Pupils St Joseph's Catholic Primary School will be running the STEPteam project. Learning about business, creating a business plan before running their own mini enterprise. www.stepteam.org

A Sheffield wide schools/college competition based around developing a sports related business which could be located in an empty shop in town. 6 schools participating at a centrally organised event (at the Uni of Sheffield) whilst others undertaking in school. Business reports to be submitted for consideration at a high profile finals event on 29/11 at Barclays HQ

Global Enterprise Week 2011 To celebrate Global Enterprise week our sixth form have been launching their own businesses during the Creativity Activity Service option on a Wednesday afternoon. Here are some of the innovative businesses that have been launched. “Stars n’ Stripes” a customised T shirt business, but they have competition from “Toochii”. If you fancy a snack we have “Kayla’s Cupcakes” . “Emaginique” is available to give you great deals on professional photos, great for a Christmas present.

All our prgrammes that we are running during the week include our session on 'Make it in Great Britian' Supporting the Government campaign to inspire young people with their own manufacturing plans, ideas and their experiences. The BiE programme sessions will be part of our various programmesfor students and continue until July 2012

PSYBT's regional manager in Tayside will be a judge at the Perth College Business competition listening to students pitching their business ideas.

army personnel will be holding an enteprise event that will develop enterprise skills to support employability.

Students will present their business ideas for a social enterprise focusing on the re-building of computers that will then be made available to those who meet certain criteria, e.g. on a low income.

Students from Year 9 had a whole day challenge in which they designed products for sale, as souvenirs for sale outside one of the 2012 Olympic Venues in London. They had to cost out their products, indicate what outlay they were pitching for and what profits they might expect. They worked in teams of 8 students and 18 groups competed. The afternoon session was based on presentations to our guest business advisers, pitching for their funds.

West Hatch High School, year 8 Business enterprise entrepreneurship. Year 8 Students present an idea with a business plan. School Senior leaders in a Dragons Den style interview the groups and if the business is viable and looks like making money the school allocates funds to support the business set up.

6th Form students travel to local Primary Schools to lead an enterprise challenge designed by Covent Garden London with teams of Year 5 pupils. They have a day to come up with a new innovative product for a stall in the Apple Market in Covent Garden, a marketing plan and a creative pitch. A winning team from each primary school is then choosen and competes in the Semi Final at the Ursuline High School on 18th November 2011. The 3 winning teams then get to pitch their ideas to the directors of Covent Garden London at a final next week and the winning idea will be chosen.

In partnership with Silicon Valley Comes To The UK (SV2UK), The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and G . Hack, a female technology research group at QM, we are hosting a roundtable event inviting experts from their fields to discuss the changing landscape in the UK.
