- Help the community
- Contribute towards trips and resources for their course
- Help fund events that either bring the students and/or the community together.

Year 12 Business students will be set 3 Apprentice Challenges across the week. They will be set in teams and the challenges will be set by specified teachers and in secret locations! Students will have to present their ideas in the Boardroom and along with a winning team, there will also be a losing team; whereby someone will be fired!

STEM – working in teams and individually on a variety of practical’s in Science. One will be solutions (Biology) and one practical will be stretching (Physics). House points will be given for the most reliable results and best scientific report.

Working in teams as a business, students will start out with an initial investment, which they will have to use to set up a manufacturing company. They will be producing basic 2-D shapes from A4 paper and selling them at a price that the stock market dictates. This price will vary at intervals during the activity. The winning team will be the one who make the biggest profit by the end of the session. Prizes will be given for beat team in each house and for the best team overall.

In Modern Foreign Languages, Year 11 will be working in teams to develop a new marketing campaign in the target language for Dr. Oetker Germany and present these during lessons.

Year 11 students will be using their creative writing skills to write to a Business Role Model. Literacy plays a huge part in GEW and at The JCB Academy we wanted to ensure that we involved all subject areas. Their letters will be peer, self and teacher assessed and will be available for others across the school to see.

Sports Leaders from The JCB Academy have organised a 7 a-side football tournament for Key Stage 5. The event has taken weeks to arrange and will form part of their qualification. The final will then be watched by the whole school!

All of Year 11 will be set the GEW Challenge! Working in their mentor groups, they will work to complete the enterprise challenge. Each group will then present their ideas and a winning team will be chosen to represent them in the final. There will then be a final presentation session whereby all 9 groups will be represented by a team. One winning team will be chosen by a panel of judges and House Points will be awarded to the winning groups house!

Year 12 and 13 students are being sponsored to stay awake for 24 hours! The event will take place at The JCB Academy and students will be taking part in a variety of activities in order to keep themselves awake! All of the monies raised will be donated to Children in Need!

All year groups will be taking part in a GEW assembly. This will involve them watching a video on the impact of GEW and getting involved by each completing a GEW manifesto!

Throughout GEW, students at St. Catherine's Catholic School will be running and taking part in a number of entrepreneurial events and activities.
The GCSE Business Studies students will be taking part in the amazing "Tycoon In Schools" competition, running their own businesses and trying to generate a profit! Parents and students should keep and eye out for products being sold and read notices for where it's all happening. Many other students will be running their "Young Enterprise" businesses, showing the rest of the school another way of launching a business

A session with our business students (tutor Dave Walker) delivered by Business Dynamics. Students will meet the local HSBC bank manager and find out what it takes to obtain finance in these tough economic times.

The finalists are chosen for the Future Entrepreneur Award 2012. Will you be in with a chance of scooping the top prize of £1000 and ongoing business support? This event, in collaboration with University of Glamorgan, pits the cream of our students against those from Merthyr College.
On Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th, each finalist or team will be given training on presenting and pitching ready for the final on Thursday 22nd November.

Come along and support our Children in Need event at Cardiff and Vale College. The event organised by course tutor Sian Morgan and her Welsh Baccalaureate students puts the fun into fundraising (see what I did there?). Buy some cakes, coffees and do your bit for charity whilst having a giggle too.
