In partnership with NACUE, official launch of the Sheffield College's student-led enterprise society.

All students taken off timetable to participate in Enterprise Awareness Day, a full day of events centred around Enterprise including external entrepreneurs coming in to give talks and culmininating in all groups of students presenting their business ideas to the principle and guests.

Sheffield College has a strategic commitment to enterprise and employability. We are opening a new Enterprise Gateway office in our City College. The Gateway, staffed by business mentors, is easily accessible to students and staff and will offer advice, guidance and practical help on business startups and all other aspects of enterprise. Our Gateway opening event is timed to fit around both Global Entrepreneurship a City College open evening, thereby attracting a high level of interest.

This event also included promotion of start up loans for young entrepreneurs.

Launch of Merrill School's Prom Enterprise Company working with Derby College

The launch took place with a visit of a group of pupils to begin the joint process of planning for their end of year Prom. Pupils will work on enhancing their entrepreneurial skills as well as fund raising through school projects and winning Prom Awards ( alternative to merit marks)!!

Business Sparks is a youth enterprise programme for 16 - 24 yeard olds in Newcastle upon Tyne. The programme begins this week, but is a ccomprhensive six month programme of support. The programme focuses on the exploration, experience and enteprise model, allowing young people to develop an enterprise idea into a business. The programme offers workshops, seminars, office space, business mentors, test trading opportunities, networking events and a start-up grant.

Budget marketing has changed - no longer is it enough to create a catchy poster and hope for the best - this workshop will help you make full use of social media, get the message right by identifying your USP and get your creative thinking hat on! Fun and fast paced workshop open to Glyndwr University students.

This is a workshop to support young people looking to run their own projects in the community.

The success of TED, the Khan Academy and MIT Open Courseware has demonstrated how technology can disrupt education as we know it - bringing lectures from world class speakers into your front room.

But despite technology-enabled solutions, big educational challenges still exist: Britain has the rather dubious honour of leading the developed world in Educational Disadvantage: the inequalities in educational outcomes that arise as a result of children's socio-economic background. Thousands of young people leave school without basic literacy and numeracy.

Working in a team, you’ve got just 24 hours to think of and design a concept for a brilliant and original mobile App! Just turn up at 6pm on Thursday 15th November at Imagine. Teams of 4 (individual contestants are very welcome – we’ll put you into a team when you arrive!)

THE PITCH At the end of the 24 hours, your team must present its new and original App to a panel of experts before answering questions about their idea. An excellent opportunity to develop a project that would be an ideal starting point for an App that you would like to develop and market in the future!

Learners from Derby College will attend the Skills Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Held at the NEC Birmingham from 15-17 November, The Skills Show is free to attend and will play host to a range of skills competitions, awards and activities. Visitors will be inspired by skills in action as the best of the nation’s young talent perform at the WorldSkills UK Competitions; they’ll have chance to Have a Go at new skills, get up to the minute careers advice, access Apprenticeships and real job opportunities from employers, to help them make that next important step!

Learners across Derby College have been invited to come along and speak to local Entrepreneurs on Thursday 15th November 2012 for a 'Cafe Style' Workshop. Entrepreneurs and representatives from local businesses will be able to share their enterprising skills and characteristics with learners, and learners will be able to ask questions in an informal atmosphere. Entrepreneurs and reprensentatives from local Businesses include S&A Foods, Cirena Ltd who operate Birchover Hotel Apartments and Bay Tree Apartments in Derby, Oviso, Make a Difference and McAndrew Utilities.

Business, Catering, Hair/Barbering learners at Derby College will be demonstrating their enterprising skills and characteristics and have come up with a variety of fundraising activities for Children in Need 2012. This event will be attended by the Mayor of Derby who will participate in activities and officially open the Fundraising.
