Sheffield College has a strategic commitment to enterprise and employability. We are opening a new Enterprise Gateway office in our City College. The Gateway, staffed by business mentors, is easily accessible to students and staff and will offer advice, guidance and practical help on business startups and all other aspects of enterprise. Our Gateway opening event is timed to fit around both Global Entrepreneurship a City College open evening, thereby attracting a high level of interest.

This event also included promotion of start up loans for young entrepreneurs.

The launch took place with a visit of a group of pupils to begin the joint process of planning for their end of year Prom. Pupils will work on enhancing their entrepreneurial skills as well as fund raising through school projects and winning Prom Awards ( alternative to merit marks)!!

Business Sparks is a youth enterprise programme for 16 - 24 yeard olds in Newcastle upon Tyne. The programme begins this week, but is a ccomprhensive six month programme of support. The programme focuses on the exploration, experience and enteprise model, allowing young people to develop an enterprise idea into a business. The programme offers workshops, seminars, office space, business mentors, test trading opportunities, networking events and a start-up grant.

Learners across Derby College have been invited to come along and speak to local Entrepreneurs on Thursday 15th November 2012 for a 'Cafe Style' Workshop. Entrepreneurs and representatives from local businesses will be able to share their enterprising skills and characteristics with learners, and learners will be able to ask questions in an informal atmosphere. Entrepreneurs and reprensentatives from local Businesses include S&A Foods, Cirena Ltd who operate Birchover Hotel Apartments and Bay Tree Apartments in Derby, Oviso, Make a Difference and McAndrew Utilities.
