Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008

The fifth Enterprise Week became part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week and was a phenomenal success with 644,000 people attending 6,363 events all over the UK. Lots of different types of organisations got involved, including third sector organisations, public sector organisations, private sector organisations, schools, FE colleges, and universities.

The first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week saw:

  • 24,966 events in 77 countries
  • 3.06 million event attendees
  • 8,892 partners
  • Powerful support from world leaders, including the Prime Minister of Great Britain, the Presidents of France and Portugal, the King of Morocco and government ministers from over 20 countries
  • Endorsements from business leaders including Sir Richard Branson (Virgin Group), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Russell Simmons (Def Jam Records) and Pan Shiyi (SoHo China)

Of the 3.06 million attendees, 90% were under 30 years old and 66% were women and girls.
