Enterprising solutions to bullying

Encourage students to think of enterprising ways of tackling bullying

Anti-bullying week this year falls in the same week as Global Entrepreneurship Week. A way of combining awareness for both weeks is by encouraging students to come up with enterprising ways of tackling bullying. Ask students to think of an idea to tackle bullying, which they place in the ideas box. At the end of the week, these ideas would be collated and then the best ideas presented to the students in view of implementing them into school policy.

Alternatively, this could be a classroom session where every student thinks of three ways of tackling bullying and writes them on a post-it. Together you place the post-its on the wall in themes and groups to discover those ideas which are the most popular. This would follow with a class discussion on which ideas should be implemented in school policy and how.

In order to add a different spin to this task, it could be turned into a competition where groups of students ‘pitch’ their ideas for tackling bullying to teachers or the rest of the class.

If you already have an anti-bullying policy, encourage the students to come up with new ways of updating or improving these already existing policies.
