Make Your Money Grow

Split your class into 5 teams and give each team £20, then challenge them to try and ‘make it grow’. They have to plan what they are going to do with the investment and outline their strategy as well as who in the team is going to do what roles.

The teams are then sent off to try and use the investment to start a small business. For example, the £20 could buy some basic gardening tools to allow the team to set up a gardening business for parents and friends. Alternatively they could use £20 to buy some ingredients to make cakes to sell or to buy some beads to make jewellery. The winning team could keep the profits, or donate them to a charity of their choice.

You could also add a theme to the competition such as a global theme or a sport theme, and you could also get them to produce a document outlining their idea and how they are going to make money.
