Business Eye 30 Second Commercial Challenge 2008

Students at Coleg Llandrillo took part in the ‘Business Eye, 30 Second Commercial Challenge’, a competition to create an advertising campaign for a local business in the North Wales region.

Five part-time Retail Management students from the college chose to create an advert for The Pudding Compartment, a local, ethical pudding manufacturer. The Directors of the company were born and bred within 10 miles of the college and the creator of the recipes was event trained at Coleg Llandrillo! The students managed to get puddings and marketing materials donated by The Pudding Compartment to help with the filming of the advert.

Finished advertisements from universities, schools and colleges throughout North Wales, were showcased on the big screen at the local Cineworld. Hospitality students hosted the event, and there was a great buzz throughout the whole day!

Mark Ellis, Director of The Pudding Compartment says: “I was amazed at the original ideas that had been produced in such a short time and presented so professionally by young people it was an inspiration to us all – watch out Richard Branson!”  The students enjoyed the experience and felt that it was invaluable for their future careers in marketing.
