What contribution can social and community enterprise make to a more sustainable environment in 2007?

Mark from ADAN says:
“This event was for anyone interested in reduction of carbon footprint and in the contribution social enterprise might make. People who attended included City Council staff, voluntary and community sector organisations and social enterprises.
Held at the Gathering Space in the Art Gallery in Wolverhampton, the event was organised in order to promote some of the business ideas that have been developed since ASAN became involved in its Greenworks franchise.
Colin Crooks from Greenworks in London was asked to be the main speaker. The event was publicised within Wolverhampton. There was a small group of people which made the day very intimate and engaging. The quality of discussion was high as those who turned up were real enthusiasts.
The event discussion focused around how recycling activities could be turned into real business ideas. While Greenworks was the main idea being showcased, the discussion moved into a number of new areas and areas which participants wished to explore. There was therefore a discussion about the products that are currently being developed through plastics recycling.
There was a lot of interest in the business opportunities which are being considered in the development of the Powerhouse, a former electrical power station which ASAN and other partners is promoting as a possible combined heat and power project.”
