Practical Steps to Self-Employment. This two hour interactive workshop will outline 10 practical steps to self employment.

A CAVE FE Consortium event featuring a simulated week in the London Stock Exchange in which students from four FE and HE colleges compete to make the most money from buying and selling shares.

A Cave FE Consortium and Sports Leaders Wales event at which students are given the opportunity to pitch for real money to run real projects that will make a real difference in their communities.

Cardiff Metropolitan University students will be acting as bankers at the stock Market Challenge 2011. The Stock Market Challenge gives students from local FE colleges the chance to compete on a virtual stock market for a day. The students will compete in teams and will have to buy and sell share to try and make as much money as they can in the given 24 hour period. The event is run jointly by the CAVE consortium which is made up of Cardiff and Vale College, Bridgend College, St David’s Catholic College and Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Students from Cardiff Metropolitan University will be competing at The Pitch 2011. Two teams from Cardiff Metropolitan University will be pitching to the panel of Dragon hoping to secure funding for the sport related business idea. The pitches will take place in front of a live audience at the SWALEC Stadium, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The event is run jointly between the CAVE consortium and Sports Leaders UK and sponsored by the Co-op and Sport Wales.

Bee Creative is Cardiff Metropolitan University’s annual enterprise competition, which this year focuses on developing an App. This competition is open to all current students and the winning App concept will win the opportunity to attend an App development course as well as one to one advice from App specialists on how to develop their winning idea further. The competition will be launched on Tuesday 15th November with the Big App Breakfast where students can come along for a bacon sandwich and find out more about Bee Creative 2011 and Global Enterprise Week.

Stock Market Challenge is a rewarding and enjoyable activity that is a gateway to enterprise education and financial capability. It will also help your students develop their personal, learning, thinking and functional skills.

In recreating the excitement of a real trading floor, the activity provides a platform for your students to learn how to work together as a team, solve problems under pressure, analyse information and communicate effectively.

The Cardiff and Vale Consortium has linked up with Sports Leaders, The Co-op and Street Games to run this high-profile, dynamic challenge.

Students from Bridgend College, Cardiff and Vale College, Coleg Sir Gar, St. David's Catholic College and UWIC will be pitching for REAL money to make a REAL difference to the activity levels of their institutiion of the local community. Can they do it??

Tuesday 15th November is ‘The Million Pound Challenge’ which will be running across all CAVC sites. How would you make a million or spend a million? Keep your eyes out for the human-sized bee buzzing around with chances to win up to £50 prizes!

Social Enterprise Wales 2011 is a flagship conference for the social enterprise sector in Wales. Under the theme of ‘Ready, Willing and Able’, the conference will bring together social entrepreneurs with policy makers and leading international experts.

There will be a wide range of breakout sessions available covering the hottest topics for the sector plus plenty of opportunity for networking, debate and discussion, and will also feature a U-pod session where entrepreneurs can get advice on their new social enterprise ideas.
