Building on the success of last year’s ‘Entrepreneurs in Schools’, Learning City York (City of York Council) has worked with local employers and entrepreneurs to run a similar programme for 2012.
Local young entrepreneurs and enterprising professionals, will be going into 10 York secondary schools each day to:
1. Inspire the work and enterprise ambitions of York’s young people
2. Raise awareness of the different types of jobs, employment sectors, employment opportunities and pathways that bright young York residents are already pursuing

Learning City York has been working with York-based Xing Food to develop a ‘real trading’ experience and business challenge for secondary schools.
Students in 2 schools will receive a small Learning City start-up loan to work with Phil Benson, Co-Director of Xing Smoothies, to plan, set-up and run a pop up smoothie bar for five days, during York Business Week.

This networking event follows on similar, highly successful, Business Breakfasts for Young Entrerpreneurs in 2011 and 2010. The event provides an opportunity for participants to network not just with fellow business people of their own age group but to forge links with more established businesses in the city and become part of the established network of business partnerships, support groups with further trading and networking opportunities.

Entrepreneurial University of York students can meet and chat with a number of local and alumni entrepreneurs from a range of sectors. The event is informal and is based in the Student Enteprise Space in the Ron Cooke Hub building.
